If you saw my previous post "A Tale of Two Poppies," you know I already painted two poppies this year; but this one just had to be painted, and I had yet to give one of these dictionary page illustrations to my sister. I thought of finding a flower page since Eva herself often drew, colored, or embroidered flowers on gifts for family and friends over the years. This image had the advantage of being a photo Peter took--in the long hours he had free while I painted at the UT Gardens--when we were in Knoxville in April. Since light, flat packages are best for mailing overseas and Eva is moving to a new flat in January, Christmas seemed a perfect occasion to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art for my only sister. (Oh, and I'm not really poppied out...)

I was ready to put a check in the mail for this before I saw it was a gift! ;) This is so pretty!
